Using “Groups” to spread the word

Spread the word with Group!

Both Google.com and Yahoo.com have a “Groups” section to their service and it. A “Group” can be on any topic and is basically a discussion area for people to get together, ask questions, chat, exchange information and so on. You may want to check out Google or Yahoo groups and search for a group in your area. Search something like “California Charity” or “Syracuse New York Events.”

There are tons of groups out there, some are pretty empty and have very few members, others are huge with thousands of members and posts. If you can’t find an active group to let folks know about your raffle you can very simply start your own. Call it something like “(Your Town) Events” or “(your state) car raffles” or whatever you think people out there are searching for.

It’ll take some playing around with but it’s free, it’s pretty easy and you may just get a group going that can help out not only your fund raiser but others in your area as well.

As I’m sure you’re figuring out there is no real “one shot” solution. You’re looking to get your raffle and/or your organization the most exposure online for little or no money. This takes some time, some footwork and some frustration. Just remember, if you spend a few minutes playing around in these different sites and you get a few more ticket sales from each one you doing pretty good. You’ll never know which of these methods will be “the one” that produces a ton of sales until you hit them all!

Now, feeling a little more bold? Getting your feet wet a bit? Then you’re ready to hit Craigslist.com. Thanks! Bill
